Chris L Kleinke b. 1944
The psychology professor Chris Kleinke has conducted a
number of key experiments into nonverbal behaviour. He found that people
engaging in positive facial expressions increased positive moods and likewise
with negative facial expressions and decreased mood, effects that were enhanced
when participants viewed themselves in a mirror. Mutual gaze and touch also
provided interesting ground for research especially concerning romantic
attraction and likability ratings. His work into the effects of cultural
context and proxemics on eye gaze, touch and compliance are important
contributions, as is how honesty is affected by unconsciously felt touch.
